Marilyn was born on May 13, 1947, in Wooster, Ohio, just a few minutes before her twin sister Margaret.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Don Showalter of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; children, Carol (Daniel) Hobbs of Annville, Pennsylvania, Kevin Showalter of Greer, South Carolina, Keith Showalter of Anchorage, Alaska and Kristine (Wade) Martin of Manassas, Virginia; grandchildren, Emelyne, Sophia, Elsa, Tobin and Tristen Hobbs and Liam Martin; her siblings, Wilbur (Janet) Good of Clinton, Ohio, Edith (Paul) Horst of Mt. Hermon, Kentucky, Catherine (Ralph) Miller of Plain City, Ohio, Melvin (Doreen) Good of Dalton, Ohio, Clair (Eileen) Good of Dalton, Ohio, Mark (Louella) Good of Columbus, Indiana and Margaret (John) Yoder of Fredericktown, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Valley (Horst) Good; an older sister, Verna Good; and several nephews.
Marilyn spent many years in northwestern Ontario, Canada, loving and serving the native community as a single woman, and then as the wife and best friend of Don. Together they spent nearly 20 years in Canada making memories and loving the call of God on their lives there. Today many of her closest friends still live in the north.
Marilyn loved ministry to the women with whom she came in contact. She loved being involved in women's small groups, sharing her heart, taking them to the feet of Jesus. In small circles of women, she was quick to go deep, sharing things the Father was teaching her and encouraging women in their journey.
Marilyn loved getting her fingers in the dirt. She had a large garden every place she lived, adapting to each climate and planting things that would thrive in that specific location. Her flower gardens were consistently full of life and color, never untended.
Some of her favorite moments were sitting on the couch, reading to her grandchildren, teaching them Sudoku and listening to all of their exploratory tales of experiencing the world. She was so quick to jump in the car and go for a road trip with her Knight in shining armor. She adored traveling with Don, reading to him to pass the time, listening to their favorite southern gospel, and stopping at unique places along the way as time allowed.
Most recently, she worked along side Don in ministry to couples and singles, doing one on one counseling as well as weeks of meetings in churches, connecting with couples, building relationships. She was happiest at his side praying with couples, or on the front row as he would teach, encouraging and supporting him as he spoke.
One of her last special energetic moments was attending the birth of her newest grandson, Liam. After much hoping with prayer, God gave her the energy to travel to Virginia to spend two weeks, loving on her daughter and son-in-law and welcoming Liam into the world.
Marilyn will be so incredibly missed by Don and her children and grandchildren. There will truly be a void. But they are also filled with peace from the Father and confident that she is dancing on streets of gold and sitting at the feet of Jesus, basking in His presence.
For those of you who would like to be part of remembering Marilyn's life, there will be several times of visitation at Shiloh Mennonite Church from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, and from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 29. The memorial service will be at United Bethel Mennonite Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Burial will be at the cemetery at Shiloh Mennonite Church at 4 p.m. following the memorial service.
Funeral arrangements are being provided by FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St. (state Route 161 W.), Plain City, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Hearts Alive! at P.O. Box 250, Mechanicsburg, OH 43044.

Jan. 23, 2006 - March 6, 2013
GOSHEN - Isaac Ray Steiner, 7, passed away March 6, 2013, at Hospice House in Elkhart after a 21-month journey with cancer.
He was born Jan. 23, 2006. The second of three sons, Isaac was welcomed into a loving home by his parents, Rob and Sarah, and older brother, Jonah. Isaac became a big brother when Eli was born. All survive at home but are heartbroken by the loss of their dear son and brother.
Isaac was a student at Jefferson Elementary School, where he completed kindergarten with Mrs. Tricia Brickner in the spring of 2012 and spent nine weeks in first grade with Mrs. Sara Walker in the fall of 2012. His greatest desire was to be a regular boy and both of his teachers treated him with great love and normalcy, despite his diagnosis.
Isaac accomplished much in his short life. He fulfilled dreams of traveling with his family and visited 19 states. He got to dip his feet in the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. He loved camping and eagerly fished with both of his grandfathers. His favorite vacation was his Make-A-Wish trip to Orlando, Fla., in October 2012. There he enjoyed staying at Give Kids the World and visiting Disney World and Universal Studios.
Isaac became a true LEGO Master. His LEGO brick collection has over 78,000 bricks, consisting of sets that were gifts from friends, strangers and even from the LEGO company. LEGO was so touched by Isaac's story and building talents that they awarded Isaac the honorary title of Master Model Designer and Builder. Isaac's love of LEGO bricks and ability to build complicated sets while sick inspired young and old alike.
There was, however, so much more to Isaac than LEGO bricks. He was a collector of many things, including rocks that were sent to him from around the world, and treasures, which he stored in a special wooden box. He also loved stories about the triumph of good over evil and was especially drawn to Star Wars, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia. Isaac often commented that, "There are no bad people - people are good on the inside."
Isaac took a stuffed dog with him to his cancer treatments and most days to school. Hugging his furry friends helped him feel better during times when he was scared or missed his mom. After his cancer returned in November many people worked together to bring a real puppy to Isaac's home. Nipper brought many smiles and remarks of, "Aww ... he's so cute" to Isaac's life during Isaac's final months.
Along with his immediate family, Isaac is survived by his grandparents, Wes and Margaret Steiner of Goshen and Ken and Janice Burkholder of Boise, Idaho; great-grandmother Helen Mann of Goshen; aunts and uncles Suzanne and Kraig Roth and Hillary and Nate Bishop; godparents Kris and Peter Gingerich; cousins Austin and Catherine Steward, Juniper, George and Jasmine Bishop and Emma and Andrew Gingerich; as well as many extended family members around the country.
Isaac attended Belmont Mennonite Church in Elkhart from birth. His church family cared deeply for Isaac, and are a changed community by his death.
Isaac was lovingly cared for by his doctors and nurses at Memorial Children's Hospital in South Bend, Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis and Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart. Upon awaking after his first major surgery in June 2011, Isaac told his parents that he could feel "Jesus and His nurses" with him. In this spirit, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Isaac R. Steiner Scholarship Endowment Fund c/o Goshen College Development Office, 1700 S. Main St., Goshen, IN 46526, which will award scholarships to nursing students in honor of Isaac. Please write "Isaac Steiner Endowment Scholarship" in the memo line of checks.
Family visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, in the Fellowship Hall at College Mennonite Church in Goshen. A memorial service remembering Isaac's life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at College Mennonite Church, following a private burial. Isaac was a young child and much thought and care have gone into making the visitation and memorial service a special time for children who knew Isaac
